We've heard about some Windows users running into issues when installing or updating Beatmaker (BM) IDOL. Sometimes the DAW crashes, blocks the plug-in or won't load it. Also in some cases an error message appears.
Most users were able to successfully reinstall and use the plug-in after following these instructions:
- Run the deinstaller of BM-IDOL:
- During standard installation, the deinstaller will be put into the following locations on your main system drive:
%SYSDRIVE%\Program Files\UJAM\BM-IDOL\
- During standard installation, the deinstaller will be put into the following locations on your main system drive:
- Delete the VST file:
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Program Files\VSTPlugIns\
- Delete the whole plug-in folder BM-IDOL (show hidden files must be enabled) at the following locations (if you created custom user-presets and want to keep them, please move the folder to an external HDD or a USB stick)
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\ProgramData\UJAM\ |
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\UJAM\BM-IDOL |
Please make sure no duplicate .blob files of BM-IDOL are somewhere on your system (check your custom folders for these files if possible).
- Delete the BM-IDOL.aaxplugin folder at this location
(only important for Pro Tools users)
%SYSDRIVE%\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins |
- Start your DAW and see whether BM-IDOL appears in the plug-in list (it shouldn't)
- Restart your computer
- Install BM-IDOL
- Run your DAW (it should now do a rescan and find the plug-in)
How to show hidden files
1. Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
2.Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.
3. Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.
