Welcome to UJAM! This guide will walk you through everything you need to get started with your new UJAM plugin—from creating your UJAM account to installing and activating your plugin in your DAW.
You’ll need:
- A UJAM account
- An internet connection
- The UJAM App
- A compatible DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Cubase, FL Studio, REAPER, Studio One, or Pro Tools running on macOS or Windows
- A UJAM product you have purchased or otherwise received a license for
1. Create Your UJAM Account
Your UJAM account is used to manage your products, licenses, and downloads.
- Go to ujam.com
- Click the small profile icon near the upper right then click Sign up now
- Enter your Name and Email address then click Continue
- Enter a password then click Continue
- Check your email account for an email from ujam.com with a verification code
- Copy that code and enter it on the page from step 4
Already purchased a UJAM product?
If you purchased your product from the UJAM website using the same email address you used for your account the license will be in your account (Backstage > Products).
If you purchased a UJAM product from a third-party reseller, you will redeem your product license in your account's Partner Checkout page.
2. Download and Install the UJAM App
The UJAM App is the easiest way to download, install, and manage your UJAM products.
- Download the UJAM App for your operating system
- Install the application:
- macOS: Open the .dmg and drag the UJAM App to Applications
- Windows: Run the downloaded installer and follow the instructions
- Launch the UJAM App
- Sign In using your UJAM account's email & password
3. Find Your UJAM Plugin
The UJAM App defaults to showing all available products.
Use the Search field to find your product, or change the first pop-up menu to "My Products" then click Install to the right of any title.
The UJAM App will download the necessary files and install the plugin on your computer.
Installing the Plugin Content
Note that many UJAM products include additional content such as samples, presets, or other sound files.
The UJAM App will install this content along with the plugin.
If you want to store this content somewhere other than the default location, it can define that prior to installing or move it after installing. See Plugin Content | Managing Blob Files
Tip: It's best to use the UJAM App to manage your UJAM content rather than manually moving or deleting the files.
4. Activate Your Product
Your UJAM product needs to be activated before you can use it.
In most cases, activation happens automatically when you install a product through the UJAM App while logged into your account.
If your product isn't activated:
- Open the UJAM App
- Make sure you're signed in to the correct UJAM account
- Click the sync/refresh icon at the top, or the "Refresh" link at the bottom
If you purchased a product from a reseller and it isn't listed in your account, make sure you have redeemed the license code associated with your purchase in your account's Partner Checkout page.
5. Open Your DAW
Once installation is complete, open your DAW.
UJAM plugins are installed as standard audio plugins and can be loaded from your DAW's plugin browser.
Make sure you are looking in Instruments -or- Effects for the plugin.
Depending on your operating system and DAW, you may see UJAM products under formats such as:
- VST3
- AU (Audio Units) — macOS
- AAX — Pro Tools
If your DAW doesn't immediately show the plugin, you may need to rescan your plugins or restart your DAW.
6. Load Your UJAM Plugin
The exact steps vary depending on your DAW, but in general:
- Look for UJAM plugins in Instruments or Effects (depending on the title)
- Look for the format you installed (AU, VST3, etc.)
- Use Stereo tracks or an add-on section
When the plugin opens, you should be ready to start making music!
7. If You Can't Find Your Plugin
If you've installed the product but can't find it in your DAW, try these steps:
- Quit and restart your DAW
- Make sure the UJAM App shows the product as installed
- Check that you're looking in the correct plugin category
- Run your DAW's plugin rescan
