Although the UJAM App provides an easy and reliable way to download and install our software, there are instances when a standalone installer is needed. (note: some plug-ins like Beatmaker 3, Usynth, and Virtual Pianist still require the UJAM App for activation.)
The article contains the following sections:

Error Messages in the UJAM App
In some system specific cases, the UJAM App might display an error about downloading or installing similar to one of the following:
Basic Installation Troubleshooting
- Always keep your UJAM App up-to-date and use the latest version (download here)
- Grant all the required permissions in your operating system settings (e.g. macOS 15 | Sequoia), and try right+click > Open on macOS.
- Run the app as administrator and make sure to enter your system password when asked (sometimes the window might pop up somewhere in the background)
- Always close your DAW before installing or updating a plug-in
- Try disabling the ‘Silent Plugin Installation‘ feature of the UJAM App (especially when seeing Failed to install 'x'. Installation state is not "installed" after installation. User likely aborted the installation):
-
Try using the default file locations during the download and installation process.
- Use your internal drive instead of an external drive for the UJAM download path or the plugin content files.
- Disable the ‘Choose Content Folder‘ feature of the UJAM App:
-
Check your Antivirus settings:
- Sometimes, antivirus software can be a little overzealous and block apps it shouldn't. Look for any settings related to application control or network access and see if UJAM is listed. If so, make sure it's set to allow network access.
- You can also try temporarily disabling your antivirus software to see if that solves the problem.
-
Disable your Firewall temporarily:
- On most systems, you can do this by going into your computer's settings, finding the 'Firewall & network protection' section, and then temporarily turning off the firewall.
- Once you've done this, try launching the UJAM software again and see if the problem persists.
-
Check your Internet Settings:
- Some software has issues with certain types of internet connections.
- If you're using a VPN or proxy, try disabling it to see if that solves the problem.
Direct Download Links
If you're still struggling to download or install a plugin from the UJAM App, please use the direct download links below. They load regular .exe or .pkg installation files, which should be working for your system. Some files are currently hosted on Google Drive or Dropbox. Installer files which use the UJAM downloader will end up in the default download folder of your operating system:
Important note for Windows users:
- Please make sure to download all files provided before installing.
- You need to have all the .bin files and the .exe file in the same folder (!), in order to run the .exe file and install the plug-in successfully:
- The files usually look like this:
USYNTH
How to install manually:
- Quit your DAW
- Download and install the Usynth frame (plugin host) and a Usynth title (plugin content) using the links below
-
Refresh your UJAM App before starting your DAW and loading the plugin (scroll down to the bottom of the UJAM App to find the refresh button)
- In case of any glitches, re-instantiate the plugin or restart your DAW.
